May 10, 2013: TVHOC has received a $50,000 grant from funding secured by Attorney General Kamala Harris through the National Mortgage Settlement for California.

The Attorney General awarded this grant to TVHOC for a pilot project designed to test the efficacy of using local realtors to deliver information about foreclosure recovery services to consumers who may need such assistance. The program aims to reach 10,000 East County homeowners experiencing some degree of mortgage distress. Legacy Real Estate, an ethnically diverse real estate brokerage in Livermore, has volunteered to be TVHOC's first outreach partner for this program. The Center is proud to be one of only 21 agencies selected by the Attorney General's Office to receive funding from the National Mortgage Settlement. This funding is intended to benefit many of the state’s neediest homeowners and families by providing or expanding access to free legal assistance and representation, foreclosure intervention aid, homeowner education, financial literacy clinics, and fraud prevention education - the core of TVHOC's mission. “When it comes to assisting homeowners in distress, we have a 97% success rate, so we are very excited to have additional resources contact homeowners who could benefit from our services. We truly appreciate Legacy's interest in volunteering to assist us with testing this new channel for outreach to homeowners." -Milly Seibel, Executive Director of Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center.
